The Role

We are currently seeking compassionate and experienced Maternity Midwives to join our team in Sydney, NSW. As a Maternity Midwife, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive and holistic care to women throughout their pregnancy journey. Working within our state-of-the-art maternity units, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of mothers and newborns. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide compassionate and individualized care to women throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods, respecting their autonomy and choices.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of maternal and fetal wellbeing, including fetal monitoring and labor progression, and initiate appropriate interventions as necessary.
  • Support women during childbirth, providing physical and emotional support, pain management techniques, and assistance with birthing positions and techniques.
  • Facilitate breastfeeding initiation and provide lactation support and education to new mothers.
  • Collaborate closely with obstetricians, neonatologists, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and address any complications or concerns.
  • Educate women and their families about pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, and postpartum recovery, empowering them to make informed decisions and promote their wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of midwifery assessments, interventions, and patient responses in accordance with regulatory standards.

The Essentials

  • Current registration as a Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Working with Children check (if relevant) 
  • Compliance with ACQSHC National Standards 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Midwife, preferably in a maternity unit or birthing centre.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with women and their families.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. 
  • Highly developed clinical skills in maternity services: antenatal/birth suite/postnatal care
