The Role

As a Theatre Nurse (Perioperative Nurse), you will play a crucial role in the surgical team, providing high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologist, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
  • Provide compassionate pre-operative care to patients, addressing their concerns and ensuring their comfort.
  • Monitor patients throughout surgical procedures, anticipating and responding to their needs and assisting the surgical team as required.
  • Administer medications and anaesthesia under the supervision of an anesthesiologist.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care activities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to infection control protocols to ensure patient safety.


The Essentials

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in perioperative nursing, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
  • Certification in perioperative nursing highly desirable.
