Recruitment is a fast-paced and dynamic job that involves a variety of tasks every day. A recruiter’s role is all about matching the right talent with the right opportunity.
Whether sourcing new candidates, meeting with clients, or preparing candidates for job interviews, the day is full of diverse tasks aimed at delivering the best results for both clients and job seekers.
It is a role that requires multitasking, excellent communication, and relationship-building skills, with no two days being exactly the same.
We come to work with a few messages and things to do that happened overnight. Our job is not a 9-5 pm normal career. We take calls after hours as our Zonda Nurses work shift work and we must be at the ready when they are.
Of course, all non-urgent tasks are left until we are on shift the next day, however that is not always possible.
Zonda Recruiters organise their schedule for the day, which may include client meetings, candidate interviews, or internal team discussions.
As our days a full and sometimes hectic we review pending tasks, such as filling job roles, candidate follow-ups, or sourcing new clients. We set our priorities for the day to stay on top of everything.
We search for candidates across platforms like LinkedIn, job boards, and internal databases.
We search for potential candidates who meet the job requirements set by their clients. However, our most successful candidate finds are through word of mouth, from other beautiful candidates that love having their own consultant and the famous Zonda service.
After the initial screenings, recruiters may conduct more detailed interviews with candidates, assessing their qualifications, cultural fit, and overall readiness for the role.
We meet or talk with clients to discuss job vacancies, hiring needs, or any changes in requirements. We may also check in on the progress of current candidates or present new candidates to clients for open positions.
In this current market though it has been necessary to do “cold calls” as facilities are trying to cut back on using agency and save on costs.
Like any sales role, recruitment comes with its fair share of pushback and rejection. However, it is important not to take it personally. The key is to stay resilient, learn from each experience, and keep moving forward.
Every “no” brings you closer to the next opportunity, and maintaining a positive mindset is essential for long-term success.
After interviews, recruiters give candidates feedback and keep them informed about the next steps.
If a candidate is selected for a role, recruiters handle salary negotiations, job offer letters, and any adjustments to terms. They ensure both the candidate and client are on the same page before finalising the offer. We then prepare job offer documents, contracts, or any required paperwork related to recruitment processes
Then, life happens. You have just secured a contract and booked the travel, and suddenly a family emergency arises. This is the reality some days, and it is crucial to stay adaptable and not let setbacks discourage you.
Being able to think on your feet and find solutions is a key part of the job.
Flexibility and resilience will help you navigate these unexpected moments without losing momentum.
At Zonda, we are fortunate to have a dedicated payroll department and travel clerks based in our head office in Sydney.
This setup ensures that any issues or changes can be addressed and resolved quickly, allowing us to provide efficient solutions and support when you need it most.
With these resources in place, we are able to keep everything running smoothly and ensure that your experience is as seamless as possible.
Let me let you in on a secret, being a good recruiter is all about communication and transparency all the way through.
Clear correspondence and verbal skills are imperative as well as a powerful negotiation manner. To run an efficient “desk” we need to possess a problem-solving mind and acute organisation skills.
